Family Friendly Toronto: Arts & Crafts’ Field Trip

family friendly toronto field trip posterRemember the days, pre-kids, when you used to go to concerts every Friday and Saturday night? Remember catching the newest bands in the smallest clubs? This summer the entire family can enjoy an outdoor concert in Toronto together. The folks at the independent music company Arts & Crafts have organized a family friendly Toronto event on June 7th and 8th at Fort York, Arts and Crafts’ Field Trip.

Family Friendly Toronto : Arts & Crafts’ Field Trip

The Tunes: Are your kids little hipsters in the making? Do they love singing along to Broken Social Scene, Shad and Chvrches? Pick a spot in the grass to listen and dance to the bands play. If your littles love listening to something a more “kid-like”, Field Trip will also have award winning children’s artists and performers like; Emilie Mover and Megan Bonnell. Perfect for young ones. P.S. If you are planning on catching some of the louder acts at the concert, you may want to bring along a pair of safety headphones to protect young eardrums.

Day Camp at Field Trip: Aside from the music, families will find plenty of other ways to entertain the kids. Day Camp  at Field Trip is a section of the show that will be devoted to kids activities and entertainment. Jump around in a bouncy castle, get a temporary tattoo and Day Camp is where you can catch the children’s performers.

The Eats: Let’s face it, as parents we know that the key to any successful outing is keeping the kids well fed. Field Trip’s Mess Hall will be fully stocked with family friendly food options from some of the city’s trendiest foodie hot spots. Do your kids like having fun with their food? Enter the kids, or just watch, a watermelon eating contest or a corn on the cob eating contest.

The Arts: Take a break from the music and activities while checking out the Etsy Marketplace. The Etsy pop-up shop at Field Trip will host artists selling handmade and vintage goods. Pick up a vintage handbag from Grace Designs or grown-up colouring books from Team Art. There will be something for everyone in the family to enjoy.

Which band are you looking forward to seeing?

In my "previous life" I was a mental health my current life I'm a stay-at-home mom with 2 beautifully adventurous kids. I share everything that lands on my kitchen counter over on my blog, Kitchen Counter Chronicles. Swing by and learn how we are greening their lives; what we are crafting; what we are cooking and what we are reading. While you will often find the girls and I inside the kitchen, you will also find us out and about getting our hands dirty, exploring and learning outdoors.
